The Design Process

The main consideration when designing a lighting solution is the quality and quantity of light needed on the court.

The quantity of light is measured as an average lux level and the level required is determined by the standard of tennis to be played. General guidelines recommend lower levels for recreational play, medium levels for club standard and high levels for international or professional grade.

A comprehensive custom lighting design is available for $295.00 +GST, this fee is completely refundable if you go ahead with your project and purchase your lights from IWE Group.

If you would like to go ahead with a design, please follow the link to our payment page.  Once payment is complete you will be directed to a questionnaire regarding your requirements - please click on the return to sellers website button to reach this questionnaire.

Alternatively please take the time to view or generic designs, available free of charge which will give you a greater understanding of what light would best suit your needs.  These designs are available for download  by clicking the links on the left hand side of this page.

Australian standards recommend:

Recreational and Residential – 250 lux
Club Competition and Commercial – 350 lux
International and National – 1000 lux

The quality of light is gauged by the degree of light uniformity across the court.  In other words, the light level across the court is reasonably even and there are no overly bright or dark spots.

The minimum Australian standards for uniformity are:

Recreational and Residential – 0.6
Club Competition and Commercial – 0.6
International and National – 0.7

Our design team work to achieve optimum uniformity and maximum lux levels by using tailored lights and lenses to provide the correct distribution of light for your courts. Once installed the lights are positioned using a mobile application to ensure the light angles are correct and the best possible combination quality and quantity of light is achieved.

Other considerations include Council regulations on light spill. Our specially designed spill shields allow you to easily comply with council regulations without effecting the quality of your light. Making sure you have light in all the right places.
